Andy Parsons: Romantic

The show was based on the Caspar David Friedrich painting 'The Wanderer above the Sea of Fog', 1818, and had sculpted figure looking out at the magnificent view of Benbulben from the gable high window of Teac Ban Nua Gallery beside WB Yeats grave in Co. Sligo.

The work used the situation of the gallery to explore how the language of romanticism still figures in our world view and has stealthily crept back into the reckoning in contemporary practice. Work from the same project was recently in Perpetuum Mobile in London (May 08) and Gallery Sudo in Tokyo (Nov 07).

The engagement with the subject matter of Romanticism through site specific and 3d work as well as prints and books is an ongoing project.
